Permanent Tooth Replacement

Dental Implants London

A dental implant is the closest thing modern dentistry can offer to a natural tooth. Anchored permanently in the jawbone, it looks, feels and functions exactly as your own tooth once did — and with proper care, it can last a lifetime.

Why Implants?

The Gold Standard in Tooth Replacement

When a tooth is lost, the jawbone beneath it begins to shrink — a process called resorption. Bridges and dentures can restore the appearance of a complete smile, but they cannot prevent this bone loss. Only a dental implant, by integrating directly with the bone, preserves the jaw’s natural structure while restoring full function.

At DentAkademi London, implant surgery is performed by Mr Baha Bagdadi — Specialty Doctor in Oral Surgery at Barts Health NHS Trust, with specialist training in implantology and maxillofacial procedures. We use only proven implant systems, selected for their long-term clinical record and osseointegration performance.

From the day of surgery, you leave with a fixed temporary restoration. You will not spend a single day without teeth.

Implant Systems

The Systems We Use — and Why

Not all implant systems are equal. Surface technology, thread design and the quality of the implant-abutment connection directly affect long-term success rates. At DentAkademi London we work exclusively with systems that carry robust independent clinical evidence — not simply the lowest cost option.

Straumann

Swiss-engineered with over 60 years of clinical data. SLActive surface technology achieves osseointegration up to twice as fast as conventional implants, reducing healing time and risk.

Nobel Biocare

The original implant system, used in more published clinical studies than any other. Our preferred choice for All-on-4 and complex full-arch cases requiring predictable long-term outcomes.

Osstem

South Korea’s leading implant system, now one of the world’s most clinically validated. Excellent bone-level stability and a strong evidence base for immediate loading protocols.

System Selection

Mr Bagdadi selects the appropriate system based on bone quality, case complexity and patient-specific factors — discussed with you openly at your consultation.

Your Journey

From Consultation to Final Crown

  • Step 1 — Consultation & CBCT Scan

A full 3D volumetric scan of your jaw assesses bone density, nerve position and sinus proximity. Mr Bagdadi reviews your medical history and discusses options. You receive a written treatment plan and transparent pricing on the day.
  • Step 2 — Treatment Planning

Using EDGE digital planning software, the exact implant position is mapped to the millimetre before surgery begins. Computer-guided placement means greater accuracy and a shorter, less invasive procedure.
  • Step 3 — Implant Surgery

Carried out under local anaesthesia (or sedation if preferred). The titanium implant is placed into the jawbone in a procedure that typically takes 45–90 minutes per implant. You leave the same day with a fixed temporary restoration.
  • Step 4 — Osseointegration (3–6 Months)

The titanium fuses with the surrounding bone in a process called osseointegration. During this period you continue normally with your temporary crown. Check-up appointments monitor healing progress.
  • Step 5 — Abutment & Impression

Once integration is confirmed, the abutment connector is placed and a digital impression taken. Your final crown is fabricated in our laboratory to match your surrounding teeth precisely in colour, shape and bite.
  • Step 6 — Final Crown Placement

Your permanent crown is fitted and adjusted. At this appointment we also review your home care routine — the single most important factor in long-term implant success.

Suitability

Am I a Candidate for Dental Implants?

Most adults in reasonable general health are suitable for implants. The primary requirements are sufficient jawbone volume and healthy gum tissue. Where bone has been lost through resorption, a bone graft performed at the time of implant placement can address this in many cases.

✓ Good Candidates

Adults with one or more missing teeth, adequate bone density, healthy gums, non-smokers or those willing to stop smoking prior to surgery, and patients with well-controlled systemic health.

⚠ Requires Assessment

Heavy smokers, patients with diabetes, those on certain medications (bisphosphonates, blood thinners), or patients with significant bone loss. These cases are not excluded — they require careful planning.

✗ Not Currently Suitable

Patients still growing (under 18), those with uncontrolled gum disease, or patients with certain active systemic conditions. Mr Bagdadi will discuss all alternatives honestly at consultation.

Bone Grafting

Where insufficient bone is present, grafting using synthetic material or the patient’s own bone can rebuild the ridge. This is routinely performed alongside implant placement at DentAkademi London.

FAQ

Common Questions

Am I suitable for dental implants?

Most adults with good general health are suitable for implants. Key factors are adequate jawbone density, healthy gums and no uncontrolled systemic conditions. A CBCT 3D scan at your consultation will confirm suitability. Bone grafting can address insufficient bone volume in many cases.

How long do dental implants last?

With proper care, the titanium implant fixture itself can last a lifetime. The crown on top typically lasts 15–25 years before it may need replacing, depending on wear and oral hygiene.

Is dental implant surgery painful?

The procedure is carried out under local anaesthesia and most patients report feeling pressure rather than pain. For anxious patients or more complex cases, IV sedation or general anaesthesia is available. Post-operative discomfort is typically managed with standard over-the-counter pain relief for 2–3 days.

How much do dental implants cost in London?

At DentAkademi London, a single dental implant starts from £1,500. All-on-4 full arch rehabilitation starts from £9,500 per arch. 0% finance plans are available. Full pricing is confirmed at your consultation following a CBCT scan.

How long does the full implant process take?

From surgery to final crown, the process typically takes 3–6 months. This allows time for osseointegration — the process by which the titanium fuses with the jawbone. You will have a fixed temporary restoration from the day of surgery, so you are never without teeth.
